Bloomsday Books in Brookside St Patrick’s Parade
The Saturday before Saint Patrick’s Day, Snake Saturday to some, is traditionally a day for many celebrations in the Kansas City area, including North Kansas City, Weston, and Brookside.
This year of course with Paddy’s Day itself on a Saturday, Snake Saturday is a full week ahead of the big day.
Bloomsday Books of Crestwood will be participating in the annual Brookside St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, on March 10 at 2pm. Interestingly, in a mad moment, Tom Shawver listed the used books store as having a live music ensemble. So now Bloomsday needs volunteers. Musical volunteers.
The plan is to assemble the first-ever Bloomsday Tin Whistle Marching Band. If you’d like to join this motley crew, invest in a penny whistle, assuming you can’t play bodhran or fiddle and Tom says he’ll try to get Turlach Boylan to teach them a tune they can play in marching mass.
Bloomsday Books was of course located - three incarnations ago - in Brookside. Today the used bookstore named after the celebration of Ireland’s most famous novel is located in the posh shops of Crestwood at 313 E 55th Street, Kansas City MO 64113 • (816) 523-6712
Tin Whistles are usually available at Sheehan’s Irish Gifts (816) 561-4480 and Browne’s Market & Deli (816) 561-0030
