Halfway To Paddy’s Day KC 2008
So today is halfway to St Patrick’s Day.
I only know that because of events in America. Here in Ireland the day is known as Wednesday.
Halfway to Paddy’s Day is a perfect day for people who find themselves being Irish a couple of times a year. Because it recognises one of those times without having to put the effort in all those three hundred and sixty-something other days in the year.
Do those people celebrate American Independence in a small way on January 4th? I’m guessing not, and probably because they’re American all the time, so why highlight countdowns to one particular day?
Tonight in the Kansas City area you have a fair few options if you find yourself being Irish all of a sudden again.
At Paddy O’Quigley’s will be a “throwin’ down a ShamRockin’ Party and a Celebration, that ya’s won’t wanna be missin’ now. There will be lots of Guinness and Bushmill’s specials.
Kickin’ the night all off, with a watch party for the K~State vs. Louisville Game at 7:00 pm …. and then Kickin’ it up a notch more, with Flannigan’s Right Hook following the game. This will surely be an Arse Kickin’ good time for Families, Friends and All to enjoy the night away.”
[I didn’t write that. Any of it.]
Over at the K the Royals are once again doing a big Irish night of green hats, green beer, and green music.
Eddie Delahunt sent a missive out yesterday announcing half off his Nutty Irish Mochas at Cafe & in celebration. And then invited you to join him and friends at O’Dowd’s Little Dublin on The Plaza for some live Irish music.
You could of course listen to Eddie at O’Dowd’s every Wednesday, and Sunday for that matter, among other venues, because Eddie like myself is cursed with being Irish all the time, so this is really just for people who are big into countdowns to being Irish.
Downtown all the showcases and performances including the Irish music that makes up the Arts Midwest Music Conference I told ya about a few weeks ago, gets going, and Raglan Road being a downtown Irish pub gets to get caught up nicely in that.
Me? I am going out to spray paint some sheep.
