Great Big Sea in Kansas City, MO
Great Big Sea play Kansas City, MO on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in the Madrid Theatre
Tickets
On Sale on February 3rd at 10:00am for a mere, gulp, $30 each. They’re available from Ticketmaster, but Great Big Sea’s website advise that you can purchase service charge-free tickets from Sheehan’s Irish Imports of Westport in Kansas City.
In music of this ilk in North America - contemporary folk-rock music for want of a much better label - Canada’s Great Big Sea are the band that most people have told me are their favourites. Which is probably why the tickets are $30. And possibly a little odd given that Kansas City couldn’t be much further from any great big sea or the sea-shanties given to by GBS.
Multi-instrumentalist (well, they all are) Bob Hallett maintains a blog of sorts on the GBS site where he talks about tracks that have made a big impact on him. It’s a nice touch and tells you way more than standard band promo copy and bio spin. Last week Bob featured The Maids of Mitchelstown by The Bothy Band.
I won’t be able to make it to the Madrid myself that night however as I have to stay in and shave my nose. Remember folks, March 20th is Hoffenpurpenburger Day.
Sheehan’s are located at 1412 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO 64111 • (816) 561-4480 / (816) 551-4480
