Grand Canal Dublin - Photos
Of the 2 canals which almost define Dublin’s city centre, it is the one to the south, the Grand Canal, that I’m most familiar with through cycling along it in County Kildare and in Dublin West.
Like the Royal Canal on the northside, it too eventually joins up with the Shannon. After Kildare it goes through County Offaly, bringing the total of counties to reach the Shannon to 3 compared with the 5 that the Royal Canal takes (Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Westmeath, Longford)
Anyway here’s a small selection of photos I took last week along a small stretch of the Grand Canal in Dublin’s city centre:
For several sections you have paths on both sides:

A House by the canal with not much in the way of windows, but then you know I can’t resist walls:

is it cleaner that Brush Creek?
Everything’s cleaner than that Brush Creek.
You’ll certainly find your share of shopping trolleys (carts) there - I saw one last week - and some sections are much worse than others with cleaning programs being undertaken every so many years - but you don’t have the sewerage issues that Brush Creek has.
That’s purty.
Fantastic photos Eolaí, hope you are in good health.
Thanks Cricket.
Funny enough although I am my usual happy self I’m not in perfect health. I’m nursing a bad head and chest for the last week now - probably a reaction to the recent travels - and a touch frustrating as it has limited my movements and work.
Expect more photos so, especially to buy me more time.
Get well soon
