Gaelic Mass in Kansas City
The annual Gaelic mass which takes place in the St Patrick’s Day season, is on Saturday, March 8th, 2008 at 5:00pm.
It is being held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Redemptorist Church (3333 Broadway, KCMO)
Members of the O’Riada Academy of Irish Dance will lead down the aisle, followed by the bagpipes and the presidents of the local Irish committees.
After communion, new members will be inducted into the “Order of St Patrick”.
Note that this event is hugely popular so please arrive early in time for parking and for seating. There is limited amount of parking behind the church, and once again the VFW building across the road is allowing their lot to be used. The Kansas City Police Emerald Society will be assisting with parking.
If you require more information see the KC Parade Committee official website
After mass, why not pop along for some Irish songs by John Morris? John is performing at Walsh’s Corner Cocktails at 8pm.
Gaelic is the term commonly used by the Irish diaspora to refer to the Irish language. Irish people from Ireland however use either the word Gaeilge (Gaelic for “Gaelic”) or just the word “Irish”.
