Festival Might Expand To A Week Long in 2008
A report in the Kansas City Star over the weekend says that prompted by decreasing attendance figures 2008 might see a 6-day long event, extended from the present 4-day event, for the Kansas City Fringe Festival.
The festival typically includes Irish music, 2007 having several shows by Jonathan Ramsey presented by the Missouri Valley Folklife Society, and 2006 having an early appearance by Kelly as the MVFS gigs.
Last year’s festival also included the Irish-themed one-man play Between Takeoff and Landing by Michael Walsh.
The thinking behind extending the festival is that to “attract more national and international artists, who say playing festivals that run less than a week doesn’t allow them to attract a big word-of-mouth audience. This year the festival attracted only a couple of out-of-town performers.”
