Downtown KC Job Fair Includes New Irish Pub
Raglan Road is one of the Downtown Kansas City Power & Light District’s tenants that will participate in a 2-day Job Expo and Career Fair on January 23-24, 2008 at the Hilton President Hotel.
The job fair is being hosted by Cordish, the developers of the new downtown entertainment district.
We’ve talked a fair bit about Kansas City’s newest authentic Irish pub, Raglan Road, including when they hosted their own job fair last weekend, but did you know prior to that that they held a cooking demonstration?
Paul Nolan, a partner in Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant, said, “Our restaurant held a cooking demonstration a couple of months ago, and it was evident from the enthusiastic reception we received that people in this area are excited about Raglan Road coming to Kansas City. We are going to be searching for employees who are energetic and ambitious.”
Although some KC Irish pubs have closed down recently Raglan Road still has over 10 years of being authentically Irish to go before it catches up with O’Dowd’s.
The Hilton President Hotel is located at 1329 Baltimore Street in KC’s P&L District (note that P&L does not in this instance stand for Profit & Loss). The fair will be held in the hotel’s Congress Ballroom (12th Floor) on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 from 8am - 2pm and Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 2pm - 8pm
Maker’s Mark Bourbon House & Lounge, Chipotle, Peachtree Restaurant, Lucky Strike Lanes and Bristol Seafood Grill are other District tenants also participating in the job fair.
Clyde McQueen, President of the Full Employment Council is reported as saying:
This is the first time in twenty years that we have had over 1,000 jobs available at one time in the urban core - jobs that are easily accessible with public transportation.
