Come My Little Son
Please, I said to everyone I know, don’t send me a Christmas card. For I have no home and nowhere to hang the cards in the home I don’t have.
And everyone was good; no cards did I receive.
But I did get a bunch of emails. And one of the nicest emails I got over Christmas was all the way from Cork - from Máirtín de Cógáin, Fuchsia Band front man and part-time KC resident.
Máirtín told me that ever since I wrote this post that he has been performing the song I included in it, and that it has been going down very well.
-It’s a powerful song, Máirtín added unneccesarily.
Never has it felt more so.
This is a reminder that tonight, Tuesday April 8th, 2008 you can see Máirtín de Cógáin perform with Jimmy Crowley in Kansas City at Eddie Delahunt’s coffeehouse.
a great night at the Firkin Crane. should be packed .I will spread the word. Dia ghuit a Sheamuis.
great night at Firkin Crane.
Lest anyone be confused by the above comment, here’s a link to the Firkin Crane. The home of dance in Cork.
The Séamus referred to is, I imagine, Mr Jimmy Crowley who performed at the Firkin Crane on 15 July, 2009.
Bernard Allen is an Irish politician and former Lord Mayor from Cork. A member of the Fine Gael party currently in opposition he is an elected TD (Teachta Dála - a member of Dáil Éireann) for Cork North Central and the Fine Gael Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs.
P.S.: Mairtin has this song on the latest Fuchsia Band CD!
Yes, I heard - thanks.
