A British, Not Irish, Comedy
The KC Tribune repeats the error that The Baker, showing tonight in the Kansas International Film Festival, is an Irish Film.
The movie is British one. Welsh if you prefer, but still not an Irish movie.
Put something online and watch it fly. The reason you’ll find bad Irish on the stained glass of Kansas City’s Irish pubs, or tea-towels on sale in the city’s Irish shops, and all over the websites representing Irishness in Kansas City, is because somebody somewhere once put it online, and ever since - through laziness or thoughtlessness - people have copied it without checking.
And the same applies to the entire culture of a nation. And then people quote it to me and insist it’s true because they read it in such-and-such a place. And I have no doubt that they read it in such-and-such a place, and know that such-and-such a place is judged to be an authority on such matters, so eventually I get tired of listening to such tosh and agree.
Yes, Wales is indeed in Ireland.
