Young Dubs Sign Record Deal: Two Albums
The Young Dubliners, who you can tell from the original Dubliners by the fact that they are alive, have announced the signing of a new record deal with two albums forthcoming.
Generally the Dubs do a rock thing, and throw in some Irish stuff from time to time, especially in pubs at other bands’ gigs, but they do get asked a lot to record the stuff - and now they are.
In a deal with 429 records, the Young Dubliners are currently in the studio working to complete an album full of all Irish tunes by Jan 2007 so it can be released in mid-February in time for the Paddy’s Day market.
For now its “tentatively titled” With All Due Respect, The Irish Sessions and has songs you’ve heard by everybody else as well as the Dubs though with that Young Dub slant.
The second part of the 429 deal is a new full original album scheduled for a March 2008 release, and the boys are due to start working on that next year, as soon as the Irish thing is done.
And should you be a festival kind of person you might care to know that the Young Dubliners had a blast on their Danish tour - which was a tour of Denmark not one of stuffing their faces with pastries - and plan to return there in the summer of 2007 for some Festivals.
And while we’re Dub talking I must confess I never liked the name The Young Dubliners, even if it did get Ronnie Drew’s blessing.
