Wind Symphony Plays Irish-Themed Music in Maryville, MO
Another opportunity for the people of western Missouri to hear Irish-related music performed by a premiere instrumental ensemble comes this week at Northwest Missouri State University.
The Northwest Wind Symphony is performing at 8pm on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in the Charles Johnson Theater on the Northwest campus in Maryville, Missouri.
Highlights of the Maryville performance, which is free and open to the public, will include “Kirkpatrick Fanfare,” an Irish-themed piece composed by Andrew Boysen Jr. for the 1999 dedication of the James C. Kirkpatrick Library at the University of Central Missouri.
There is more on the performance in the Maryville Forum, and you can learn more about the Wind Symphony on the University’s official site.
The Kirkpatrick Fanfare is described as having “a definite Irish flavor, including a strain of Danny Boy. The fanfare features driving rhythms and exciting brass figures, making this dramatic work a true crowd pleaser”.
Danny Boy? Hmmm.
