USA & Ireland: MySpace & Bebo
You’ve probably already noticed how your favourite Irish band, whatever kind of music they play, has an account on MySpace - well with the increase in adults visiting MySpace, it is now the number 1 most visited website in the US, going past Yahoo eMail and Google Search.
Lest you think MySpace is just for teens, The Street has figures which show a decrease in younger visitors and an increase in an older audience - though of course we are in the middle of summer.
In Ireland Bebo is much bigger than MySpace and has just been reported as turning down a $550 Million acquisition offer - which is pretty much the same amount as Rupert Murdoch managed to buy MySpace for.
With Bebo planning to launch a music offering shortly, you might find yourself scouring further among the social networking sites to listen to whatever you might call Irish or Celtic music.
