The Tartan Tiger: Like Ireland and Like Kansas
Not only Ireland with its Stock Exchange, Euro use, and direct trade with the rest of the world, but the US State of Kansas is also what Jim Mather, the enterprise spokesman for the Scottish National Party (SNP), believes an independent Scotland should model itself on.
You’ve got to be impressed when a common name for a phenomenom that may never happen in a state that may never exist, is coined and waiting.
Scotland of course is no less Celtic than Ireland, but the Celtic name has long been taken by the Irish economy of the mid-1990s to about 2001, so just to upset Irish people, for the proposed Tiger economy of an independent Scotland I’d go for Gaelic Tiger.
