The Studio From Outside
Here’s a photo of where I paint. That loading door up there is my loft, as is the window on either side of it.
I’ll post photos of inside, and also of the surrounding yard and woods, another time.
Update: Have a first look at inside my studio
Check out my paintings on sale - which I can now get around to adding into since I’ve implemented a short-term fix to the whitescreening of my blog.

Great spot, but looks a bit chilly!
That it is Conan - I’ve been painting in temperatures of 2 and 3 degrees (Celsiuss = 37F) regularly this winter - like yesterday, and probably later this evening. Inside is exposed to the slates - which is great when it’s raining.
For next winter I should have it a bit warmer.
Great building—is it a former stable?
Martha - it is. In fact the yard is still an active stableyard with a couple of horses and a pony in the building beside mine. During the day I get to hear the sound of a horse on cobblestones and sometimes late at night I paint along to the sound of a horse breathing.
Awesome, Eolai! Thanks for the picture.
For someone who loves walls as much
as yerself… sure it must be heaven.
Did it burn at one time?
I think I see a repair pattern in the
stonework that would be typical of
a re-build after a fire.
Would love to know the history of
the place.
What does dog-dog make of it?
I haven’t heard of any fire damage nor seen any, and while I’ve already looked at the patterns in the walls a fair bit I’m unfamiliar with rebuilds following fires. I’ll certainly try and find out though.
It’s a beautiful yard of which I will post some photos, and so is my route through its woods. ‘Tis a great little corner of west Dublin and I’m still learning about the history of the estate myself.
Dog-dog hasn’t had the treat yet - while I concentrated on the current sale and the place was like a building site I decided to save it for Christmas when I’ll bring her to doubtless bark at the horses and roam in the woods. And she’ll have a choice of 3 window sills to make her own.
