The Beauty Queen of Leenane: Wyandotte Players
Irish playwright Martin McDonagh’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane by the Wyandotte Players, I told you about earlier, was featured today in the Kansas City Kansan, in an article about how the Wyandotte Players wanted to go in a new direction.
Saying they wanted to put on something edgy, Matt Hentges, the company’s vice president, explained the choice of McDonagh’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane, by saying they wanted to put on pieces that are more avant garde:
The story involves a young woman and her mother dealing with their turbulent relationship.
It is a dark comedy, in fact many people who have read it consider it a drama, Hentges said. It is a really interesting play and we are really excited about doing it
