So Far So Good, Like: Interview with John Spillane
Darragh Doyle has a nice interview with John Spillane over on Culch.ie.
It’s a very conversational interview. I was out with Darragh myself a couple of days ago and can confirm this is how he converses.
John gives my family a namecheck - because we have the poetry you see. As well as songwriting in general he tells of the origin of The Dunnes Stores Girl, of the Irish language, of playing in Senegal, of Ireland’s only beach bar down by Caherdaniel, and of his Cork compared to Cathal Coughlan’s.
And on playing festivals? “festivals, I hate them”.
So Far So Good, Like is a compiliation album, a best of John Spillane, with 2 new tracks that he tells us he’s delighted with. When it’s available on Amazon.com I’ll point you at it (it’s on Amazon.co.uk), but until then here’s the track listing for your perusal:

4. All the Ways you Wander
5. Johnny don’t go to Ballincollig
6. Everything’s Turning to Gold Cathy
