Roscommon: New Celtic Trad Band in KC
The band Roscommon are another Irish trad for the Kansas City area.
The fiddler Stevie Wilson was telling me the other day that they are completely traditional Irish and are just starting out.
Roscommon have played at O’Malley’s in Weston, and a benefit for Habitat for Humanity. They are currently recording.
We started playing music together in August of 2007, and we have practiced once a week, except for a long winter month and a month over the summer. We always have a great time playing, whether it’s for the crowd at O’Malley’s or private parties, or just sitting on the back porch.

Roscommon?
Roscommon is the name of a landlocked county in Ireland. It is one of the 5 counties of Connacht in the West, the only one without a coast. It is also the name of the County Town. More importantly it’s where I’ve had one of my favourite holidays in Ireland.
