Reading Round Randomly
Now you might think I’ve been doing nothing here it seeming so quiet at Towers gan Fhéile, and you’d be right.
However when I do nothing, I like to do something, if you know what I mean.
So here’s a list of some things I’ve been reading over the last couple of days - not everything of course, the big stuff will find its way into individual posts, but you might enjoy some of this. I did.
• Mike Scott of the Waterboys chose one of my favourite poems by WB Yeats, The Song of Wandering Aengus, as his selction for Jacqui McKenzie’s Poets’ Corner
• Remember Mike Cassidy’s adventures of driving in Ireland? Well have a read of part 2 and part 3 of this Irish Travelog Trilogy. Mike finds himself in the Burren (see what I did there?), and truly enjoys the way we use words.
• Majella Murphy is fantastically excited about playing the biggest music/surfing event to ever hit Ireland, Cois Fharraige, where she’ll be supporting Paddy Casey, Republic of Loose, and Ocean Colour Scene. Or vice versa.
• Local man Val Lynch has been remembering Clontarf on Dublin’s northside - known internationally as the site of that battle in 1014 where Brian Boru defeated some Viking yobs and some local rebels. If you’re in Dublin you can buy Val’s Clontarf - No Thoroughfare On The Tram Road, in many local Clontarf shops
