Reactions to 2006 KC Irish Fest
Before I get to my reaction, here’s a few other links regarding the weekend’s Irish festival:
• Jason from the pitch did not have a great time watching Seamus Kennedy at The Gaf the night before the festival began.
• Happy in Bag struggled with the Hothouse Flowers Friday performance, and I know what he means but I’d blame the crowd.
• Happy was happy with the festival overall and shares some photographs and moments over at Hit Random.
• The Renick family from St Louis were treated wonderfully by the festival organizers, making last year’s almost horror story a distant memory
• Concert Chris at Patchcord had a great time on Friday night especially watching the Hothouse Flowers
• Flipster had a great time watching Gaelic Storm and Seven Nations, and taking photos.
• Franny and friends had a great time watching Enter the Haggis (twice), Seven Nations, and going shopping
• Snarky sneak had a blast after a little online ticket hoo-ha, particularly enjoying Enter The Haggis

“Eolai,” I just KNOW you’re the man to answer a question for me. During the Hothouse Flowers set on Friday night, they sang a song that blew several of us out of the water. My buddy and I looked at each other during the song and both said “I want the cd with this song” at the same time. We were volunteering at the cd tent, and we weren’t the only ones - people kept coming back and asking about it later. We didn’t see a song title that seemed to be it on any of the cds they’d brought for sale.
We THOUGHT we were hearing the words “See that woman” over and over. I’ve looked on their site (which was only half working last night when I got to look) and think the song might be “Seeline Woman.” Do you know if they sang that Friday night? The song we heard was very ’soulful’ and had that feel that it was an extended version for a concert - although how you can get that feeling from a song you’ve never heard before, I don’t know, but hopefully you know what I mean.
Yes April the boys did play Seeline Woman on Friday night - and it was most definitley an extended version, as was a lot of the stuff they did on Friday. It\’s from Just a Note the EP/Mini Album they put out way back about 1989.
Seeline Woman is actually one of the out-takes from the People Album and has long been a popular live track for the Flowers
Thanks! I’ll definitely be purchasing that cd if it’s still available. Oh, and thanks in part to your frequent comments about Fuchsia Band, I checked them out - and am QUITE glad I did.
