Profile of Paul Morrison, Johnson County, KS, DA
The Wichita Eagle has a profile of Lenexa resident, Johnson County DA, Irish-American Paul Morrison.
Morrison, is a Republican who switched parties to run for Kansas attorney general against incumbent Phill Kline. Since 1989 when he won the job as Johnson County district attorney, he has been unopposed in four elections.
Morrison’s roots hang on his office wall. They are the framed Ellis Island immigration papers of his grandfather, John Morrisroe, who came to the United States from Ireland with two brothers in 1917.
John Morrisroe went to Montana to be a cowboy, and ended up working on the railroad in California, changing his last name along the way because of prejudice against the Irish
From Dodge City, to Hays, to Plainville, to Bonner Springs, to Kansas City, the Morrison family’s story is a Kansas one. He’s a scary looking man Mr. Morrison, but I like his thoughts on the farm he has out west, A farm reminds you you’re not always as important as you think you are. I must buy myself a farm.
