Open Night for KC Gallery, & Irish Music
Sav-Art, the gallery home of Kansas City artist Mike Savage on State Line by 45th Street, is having an open night on Thursday, 27 August, 2006, at 6pm showcasing new works by Mike himself and several other artists. And in conjunction, across the street (and just around the corner) Cafe & is staying open late and Eddie Delahunt & Friends are performing an Irish music gig starting at 7pm.
Mike Savage is responsible for the painted covers on the last three Delahunt CDs, Travelin’,Alive at O’Dowd’s and Original Sing, and you can see a great example of one of his works hanging at Cafe &.
New works by Mike in Watercolor and Pastels - which are very different media to what you’re used to seeing by Mike around town - are on display, and Kari Heybrock will be demonstrating the art of lampwork including how she creates her own glass beads.
Other new artists on display are Andrew Johnson, Sandra Branjord, Jill Kernodle, and Kevin Sink. Music, food, art, and Boulevard Beer served cold. Just be careful crossing backwards and forwards State Line all evening, okay kids.
A couple of weeks ago Eddie Delahunt & Friends (his friends are Gabriel Reyes on bodhran, and Brett Gibson on piano accordion) played the first gig at Cafe & on a great night that included guest contributions from a piper and a whistle player, and singers Mitra Tibidian and Kelly Dougherty. Spoiled Kansas City, spoiled you are.
Cafe & is located at 1811 W 45th St, (816) 753 3322, and opens at 7am
