Once Gig Moved to KC from Lawrence
As Patricia noted the concert by Irish movie Once’s Oscar-winning stars Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, has been moved from Lawrence to Kansas City.
So on May 5th, 2008 the Irish red haired non-kid Hansard, and everybody’s favourite Czech of the moment, young Irglova, will be playing at the Uptown Theatre on Broadway in KC.
So far as I can tell, everything else about the original post on the Once concert still applies. Do let me know if that’s not the case.

On Marketa’s speech in that Dublin Czech accent, for example:
Can you imagine if that had been delivered by Halle Berry or Gwyneth Paltrow or pretty much anyone without a Czech accent mashed with some Irish and spoken by a 19-year-old so clearly unburdened by fame? It should have been mawkish and embarrassing and minced by critics and bloggers and chat show hosts. Instead, it became the feel-good story of the year.
