Old St Patrick’s Church, Kansas City
Irish families settling in Kansas City after the Civil War were the founding force behind what was then called St. Patrick’s Church. In January 1958 when a St. Patrick’s was built in Clay County the designation “old” was added to the church at 806 Cherry St.
Today’s Kansas City Star features the building, thought to be the oldest church in the city limits of Kansas City, and the renovation project of what is now called Old St. Patrick Roman Catholic Oratory, and expected to be open again next year.
