Midwest Irish Paper Launches blog
The Midwest Irish Focus, serving the Irish-American community of several midwestern states and particularly the Kansas City area, has launched a blog.
Designed to supplement the Focus rather than make it redundant, the blog will be serving breaking news between the monthly issues, and updates on developing stories, as well as posting on events that may have not made it into print.
It’s also an obvious location to provide links to different sites related to the people and events that feature in the print edition.
Despite the large attendance at many Irish events in the Kansas City area, there is a dearth of sites publishing current news and events so the MIF blog is great news for the area Irish and a very welcome addition to the printed paper.
And such is the nature of the web that websites complement websites rather than steal anybody else’s thunder - yes even Celtic thunder - that this blog can only be good for existing websites.
For what it’s worth I recommend embracing the site and fully engaging in comments, not least because the KC area needs a space for its Irish community to have a genuine online discussion and that anonymous diatribes are not being welcomed.
Disclosure: I’ve been known to have an irregular column appear in the Focus, under the title Celtic Comment.
