Mairtin de Cogain and The Fuchsia Band Win Radio Awards
Cork’s Máirtín de Cógáin and the band he performs in The Fuchsia Band, have both won awards on the Celtic music radio show, No Celtic Boundaries.
Máirtín has won Songwriter of the Year 2007 with a massive 55.55 % of the vote. Scotland-based Belfast man Ciaran Dorris was runner-up with 42.34%.
The Fuchsia Band have won Album of the Year 2007 with their album Grá Dá Raibh taking 31.21 % of the vote, well ahead of runner-up The Irish Descendants.
Hugh Morrison was 3rd with Under A Texas Skye. Ciaran Dorris was 4th with Chasing Dreams Down a Dirt Road, and The BibleCodeSundays were 5th with Boots or No Boots.
Congratulations so to the Fuchsia boys in general and Fuchsia boy Máirtín in particular - especially for winning Songwriter of the Year based on just the one song. A fine song it is too, and we’re looking forward to what you boys do in 2008.
