Longs Peak Scottish/Irish Highland Festival
The Longs Peak Scottish/Irish Highland Festival is on this weekend in Colorado. This is the thirtieth anniversary year, and it is always held the weekend after Labor Day.
This is a big festival with a huge amount of stuff going on. In the Folk Concert you can see Alex Beaton , Seamus Kennedy and Oceans Apart.
In what is billed as the Celtic Concert you can see Seven Nations and a band called Brother, who are described as having great blended voices, bagpipes, drums, didgeridoo, guitars, Celtic-Aboriginal-Australian music and a rock & roll attitude - whatever on earth that means.
Searson are among the Ceilidh performers. And what else you say? Well…
pipers piping and drummers drumming, kilts and plumed bonnets, brave steeds bearing medieval jousters in combat, caber, stone and hammer throwing athletes
And all the usual guff: parades, a tattoo, exotic Celtic merchandise, clans, dogs indigenous to the British Isles, and a banquet with dress kilts.
