Local Reaction to Obama’s Irish Roots
The Washington Post is a bit behind on the news, but it does contain more reaction to the Irish roots of Barack Obama recently uncovered by an Anglican rector in Ireland.
The possible presidential candidate does have a Kansas mother in Ann Durham and it is her ancestor that has been found to be from the Irish midlands village of Moneygall.
However, what most reports on this story fail to acknowledge is that the Anglican rector in question, Stephen Neill, is also a blogger. Stephen came on Irish KC when I made my original Obama’s Irish roots post, and people would learn more from the horses mouth: PaddyAnglican
And my favourite quote from the Washington Post article:
Despite Ireland’s rapid urbanization, Moneygall remains a quiet stop on the busy N7 road that runs through the green, hilly heart of the country, a place where families still have cows and time to chat.

Thanks for reminding me - I’d completely forgotten to tend to the cows this morning. All the chatting probably distracted me. Now, where did I leave my stool and pail?
I wouldn’t be so quick to claim Obama as an Irishman if I were the rector. Many of us here in the USA wonder if he is actually an American. We’ll soon see where his allegiance actually lies.
Collins you effing clown.

Clown? We’ll see who has the last laugh. Effing? You sir, should learn to be a bit more polite regardless of what your politics are. Try to raise yourself to a bit higher plane than that upon which you obviously find yourself.
