Leahy at Missouri theatre
It’s 3 weeks since I was sent word of Leahy performing at Missouri Theater in St. Joseph, Missouri on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 8pm, so apologies for only posting it now.
A little bit of Country mixed with their Irish and Scottish roots makes Leahy a powerhouse group. The eight musical brothers and sisters will catch you in their whirlwind triple-threat of fiddle driven music, dance and vocals.
Leahy’s 3 acclaimed CDs—Leahy, Lakefield, and In All Things—have world-wide sales of over half a million copies. Their music is a blend of various genres including that of their ancestral roots together with the country music you might expect from a family brought up on a farm without a television.
Awards received include Junos for Best New Group, Best Country Group, and Best Instrumental Album, the most played folk/roots song in Canada in 2004 and the Socan award for Folk/Jazz instrumentalist the following year.
Tickets: $40 Loge; $30 Orchestra; $25 Main Balcony; $10 Top Balcony
