KC Keri at the Pub
Keri Oke went to an Irish bar in KC. Gilhouly’s on 39th Street by the sound of it, an old regular haunt of my own and a very fine neighbourhood bar - give or take the odd security incident
After coming out of Prospero’s Bookstore Keri decided she did have the nerve to in by herself:
I walked right up to the bar ordered my third Guiness of the day and spent the greatest two hours of my life reading some of the strange KC/Missouri intellectual history books I picked up and then just watched people.
Bars are like that. Guinness is like that. Books are like.
And for Keri America itself is like that:
Looking around I realized, this is America. Not the intersections and byways that shove us up and down the concrete lives that we become
What a great world to live in. I reckon more people should go to bars by themselves.
