KC Band on 19th Annual Irish Festival Cruise
The Elders of Kansas City are among the performers scheduled on the 19th Annual Irish Festival Cruise that will be taking place on February 6-13, Jan 23-30, 2010.
The cruise featuring a galaxy of irish music performers, sails roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale and calls on Key West, Grand Cayman, Isla Roatan and Cozumel.
In that week on the Costa Atlantica, in over 40 hours of live Irish music passengers will get to see such heavyweights as the David Munnelly Band, The Black Family, Johnny McEvoy, and Tommy Sands. Former part-time KC resident Máirtín de Cógáin will also be there with the legendary Jimmy Crowley in the form of Captain Mackey’s Goatskin and Stringband.
The impressive lineup isn’t finished yet but it also includes The Karan Casey Band, Ennis, The Matt Cunningham Band, and also John Gleeson and Mike Mazur, probably wearing tuxes.
There are also opportunities to learn to play Irish instruments, or about the Irish language and culture. And as it’s a ship you can reasonably expect sessions to break out, and as well as shippy things. This thing has been going for yonks now but have a read of one of the early cruises as told by Frank McCourt to get a feel for it.
Price depends on what cabin selection you make.
