Kansan going to Ireland for 1 Year to Promote Local Foods
As a recipient of the Fulbright Scholar Award, Leslie Duram, a Wichita, Kansas native, who attended Wichita State University and Kansas State University, is moving with her family for a sabbatical year to Galway.
She’ll be based at UCG and concentrating on rural sustainability, organic foods, and agri-tourism. And because Leslie and her family will be on the doorsteps of the Connemara Gaeltacht, they have volunteered to learn Irish before travelling, Leslie correctly noting that it will help with some of the more difficult pronunciations.
Leslie Duram is currently chair of the Department of Geography and Environmental Resources at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Read the whole story in The Southern
