Jigging in Westport
-Are you jigging?
was what your mother would say to you when she suspected you of wanting to go to the toilet (uimhir a haon), but denying yourself because, well, you were five and the world was too much fun to spend time in a bathroom.
Sometimes you were found guilty without a trial and the order to Stop Jigging! was issued. But Ma, you would protest, because you were now twenty-eight and Madonna was on the telly.
The Shamrockin’ in Westport gig gets four lines in today’s Kansas City Star and two of them have the word ‘jigs’.
There’s also a picture of Ian Byrne and Brent Hoad of The Elders playing at last year’s Kansas City Irish Festival, and I could be wrong, but I’m thinking when they played this I was in the jax.
