J. Murphy’s Irish Pub and Grille : Website
I forgot to tell youse a couple of weeks ago (I was distracted) that J. Murphy’s Irish Pub and Grille, the new Irish pub in Shawnee, Kansas has launched its website.
However Irish the pub may be will probably be dictated by the people who go there over time. You’ve already had some bands who play Irish music there, but if people don’t go to see them, why should the pub bother putting them on? Or why should performers learn Irish tunes?
And the same goes for the food and anything else you care to call Irish.
Every Friday (and most Saturdays) there is live entertainment at 8pm, and you’re supposed to be able to see it listed on the website, but I haven’t found it myself yet.
The website is image heavy, being built out of image maps, which is - let me be kind - unusual, for the 21st century. That said, it’s very informative, expecially of the specials. Indeed if you click onto the monthly calendar you get one of those dazzling grids of drink specials - whcih to be honest I always fancied having to hand whenever I fancied a quick drink on a random night with random strangers.
There are also over 75 items on the menu, which sounds like a lot to me, but then I’ve just eaten.
The Dublin Room can handle up to 40 persons with extra seating at the bar. So if you are planning a private party - because you have no friends, or because you have a set number of friends and want no more - this room named after my native city could be for you. If you book your event before October 15th 2008 you can get 10% off of your food bill. Just ask for Kristen or the Jerrys.
