Irish KC gets more Irish and less KC
Boys and girls, Eolaí gan Fhéile is leaving Kansas City and moving back to Ireland.
Economic survival. And last Christmas everything changed. Changed utterly.
Irish KC shall continue, with no less vigour, but looser of tongue.
Without further ado, and to mark the dirty grey concrete to which I return, here is an amazing video (Update: Reinstated). Take it away, The Bothy Band:
Happy Thanksgiving

Say it isn’t so!
Wishing you the very best in the right place to be.
Ireland has soul. Ireland has pavement people walk on.
I know it’s a better place than ever and it will welcome
you home with open arms. I’d follow if I could.
Practice your “like”, “rrright”, “you know”.
Good things happen to those with the guts to return.
You’ll prove that soon.
You once told me that after you leave your country and move somewhere else you belong everywhere and fit nowhere. I’ll keep reading to see how going back forward works out for you, and next time I’m in Ireland I’ll buy you a pint and see…. Cheers!
Bhuel, a KC. Sa deireadh, ní raibh ‘na cnoic i bhfad uainn’ comh glas mar a cheaptar.
Nil faic eile a rá ach fáilte romhat abhaile. Tá an citeal ag fiuchadh.
I can’t believe it. When are you returning? Shall we have a going away party? I say yes.
Kevin, alas it is so. Ironically though, this does increase the likelihood of me visiting Arkansas.
DMC, thanks. Some good things happened here too.
Zeta, well I never did fit in to those Tuesday nights, and you know yourself now what leaving your country means. Thanks
Níor cheap mé go raibh siad, a Phrimal, ach go raibh míle maith agat
Elizabeth, thank you but this is not a time for parties. There will be ample opportunity for goodbyes. There will not be a party.
This is a sad day for the Irish Community in KC. You will be missed! Cheers to you!
Happy trails!
what about *******?
Thanks Kelly and Happy.
Karen, there is no mention (I hope) of ******* anywhere on this site, so there won\’t be an answer to that question on Irish KC either.
As I write this there’s an oulfella on the wireless playing the blues about comin’ home to his kitchen ‘coz I guess he’s missin his Tae!
EolaI, you’re a grand man and I am going to miss yer hairy head & what comes out of it! Thank you for all the great work you have done in promoting all things IRISH in KC & Beyond. I suppose there is Tintain Na Do Thintain Fein so be happy youngfella our door is always open for you.
Love ya Loads ! Eddie & Betsy.
Eolaí gan Fhéile, A Chara!
Anam an Ducks! Níor duirís aon ní liom an oíche faoi deireadh! Bheul, go n-éirí an bóther leat! beimid ag ól tae i mBláth Cliath as seo amach! Togha Fir! Ádh mór ort!
Well, I’m sad about hearing that news! Best of luck to you in all you do.
Mate,
you’ve been a complete breath of fresh air - I so enjoy our gig nite conversations at O’Dowd’s and I hope for a few more before you go. It’s easy to lose perspective, and you have a knack for cutting thru’ the BS both on and off the page. You’re a bugger for leaving, and I’ll miss you. Next pint’s on me mate.
See ya soon.
All the best on your return home, sir.
Sad news my man!! I can only say we will miss your smiling face and bawdy jokes at ODowds. Safe trip home, and hopefully we’ll see you once or twice more before you head out!!
