Two New Irish Pubs for Kansas City
Paddy O’Quigleys are opening two new pubs in the Kansas City metro area, one on the Missouri side and one on the Kansas side.
Joyce Smith in today’s Kansas City Star has the story of original O’Quigley’s founder Tom Intfen licensing the concept, including the earlier variations on the name of Danny O’Quigley’s and Johnny O’Quigley’s (Danny’s closed, Johnny’s changed to Paddy’s).
The new Missouri location is in the crossroads district in downtown KC, Missouri in the former Hereford House Catering space at 100 E. 20th Street, and is scheduled to open on June 10, 2007.
The new Kansas location is in the new Lenexa City Center East by 87th and Renner, and is scheduled to open some time later in the year.
In the article Intfen describes his original Leawood Paddy O’Quigley’s:
I wanted a place with an Irish approach. It was a basic suburban neighborhood sports bar, but with a warm and friendly atmosphere, Guinness on tap, other Irish beers, Irish flags and maps, live music, and a bit of blarney about the history of Paddy O’Quigley.
