The Fuchsia Band After Kansas City
Speaking of Irish blogs and Kansas City (as we were when chatting about Bob Reeder’s blog) those rascally boys from Cork, The Fuchsia Band, are once again documenting their American Tour by way of an ould blog so they are.
Actually I say “they”, when it’s really Eoin doing all the work. Presumably that means he doesn’t have as much work to do sorting pink Fuchsia hotpants into different sizes.
Eoin Verling has been at this lark for yonks and knows what he’s doing. Liberally dotted with photos of the boys, (except where their “strict ahh come on lads policy prohibits”) it’s a tumbling story of four boys still somehow, after several years touring, wide-eyed at an America constantly opening its arms and entrails to them.
The most recent post covers what happened after the 2 recent Fuchsia Band Missouri gigs, namely the La Crosse Irish Fest in Wisconsin. Oh and the 10-hour non-Interstate drive to get there.
Despite the heat it all seemed grand with a shaded stage and the backstage, sidestage and onstage frivolities that the Fuchsia Boys enjoyed with their fellow performers, The Screaming Orphans (or as Eoin calls those girls, The Creaming Orphans), Gaelic Storm (Garlic Bread), The Mickey Finns and Scythian:
It kinda all kicked off then when the girls were playing. All of us (and when I say all, I obviously mean some!!) went kinda mad .. and I think the turning point was when the 2 lads from the Micky Finns took to the stage … and funnily enough, wasn’t I on had with a camera … isn’t that just lucky!!!
