Stereotypical Irish Breakfast
Being an Irish stereotype before emigrating was never an issue. Because you didn’t know. You only knew when tourists came to town and told you that you were a stereotype, but very few did, and of those who did, well what did they know anyway?
Time was when an Irish breakfast in my house meant somebody had just got off a boat. A fry for breakfast, day after day meant a wedding, or visitors from overseas. And now I am that visitor from overseas, and every day having four pork products on a plate and calling it breakfast is as fabulous as ever. Oh, and an egg of course, because it’s important to have your vegetables.
So I’m very pleased on this visit home to be eating for the first time white pudding contained within black pudding, like Lesotho within South Africa. What took the human race so long to think of that rolled up concoction of everything that’s bad but tastes great?
