Pitch Best of Kansas City 2007
While I was out of town (the town I live in as well as the town I left, that is) the Pitch announced its Best Of awards for 2007. And there were a few Irish-related winners.
Bob Reeder. Paddy O’Quigley’s. The Elders. Walsh’s Corner Cocktail. Maloney’s Bar & Grill.
Bob Reeder is the winner of the category for Best Ad Lib Poet, which I think is like saying he’s making it up as he goes along. We’re talking Limericks. And Kyle’s Tap Room in Gladstone.
Walsh’s Corner Cocktail is the winning pub in the category for Best Neighborhood Bar, South. I frequently mention the establishment on 85th by Wornall as one of my favourite pubs in KC so am pleased to see it get this recognition.
Maloney’s Bar & Grill in Overland Park wins the 2007 award for Best Patio which I would have thought was quite a competitive category.
And in the Readers’ Choice section the Elders won the Best Band category, and the new Paddy O’Quigley’s in the Crossroads won the Best New Bar, Missouri category.
It would be remiss of me to fail to mention 3 blogs on my sidebar which were also winners:
Happy In Bag won Best Blog About Life, and I’m delighted with this as even if Happy’s other blogs about music, especially There Stands The Glass are his greater passion, Happy In Bag is consistently everything most blogs aren’t - interesting, honest, thought-provoking, fair, and short yet with a photo.
Gone Mild won Best Political Blogger, and deservedly so. While I don’t contribute to the debates Dan stirs on his site, it is the best and fairest place to lurk. And having a political blogger admit he was wrong on some things is so civilised.
And Tony’s Kansas City was the Readers’ Choice for Best Blogger. Because nobody does what Tony does; nobody even comes close.
Oh, and you might want to compare and contrast 2007 with the Pitch Best Of KC awards for 2006 - also from an Irish perspective that is.
Bless you.
[…] That’s not just my opinion by the way, as the Pitch named it as the Best Neighborhood Bar, South in their Best of Kansas City 2007. […]
