O’Neill’s of Prairie Village, Kansas
Speaking of Irish food and drink, the current issue of The X (a publication I’m biased towards since they ran a feature on my good self some time back) has a review of lunch at O’Neills in Prairie Village, Kansas by John Beaudoin. John is steak man but at the Irish-themed Restaurant and Bar he was tempted by the North Atlantic salmon - which sounds biblical if not Irish mythical.
Anyway, a rake of very positive phrases are used and you find out that O’Neill’s have a frequent lunch program - handy for those of you who frequently eat lunch - a sixth entree after five.
While the lunch was a little more than I usually budget for ($12.99), it was the deal of the day.
This 7 oz. hunk of salmon was exceptional, accompanied with a healthy dose of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli.
I am always weary as we all are of seafood outside of what we consider the normal seafood haunts.
O’Neill’s got this one right.
The Irish pot roast ($9.99) and Somerset chicken salad ($8.99) look equally tempting.
But before we even got to the good stuff, we nearly got stuffed on the spinach and parmesan dip ($7.59).
The dipping crackers were nearly the size of a pizza, and the spinach dip full of flavor.
I get asked about O’Neill’s all the time, but I haven’t been able to say anything. Seems it’s about time I went to 4016 W. 95th Street, and said something.
