Mosquito Watch #4
Mosquite Project Recap:
No bug deterrent applied, and no after-bite topical relief applied.
Things were going swimmingly there for a few weeks. Oh I was getting bitten quite a lot of course, but the bites were in keeping with the unwritten agreement I have with the mosquito world.
So about a week ago I was sporting 50 bites. Several on each knee - annoying but at least on the front which is marginally better than the back.
And I had many on each arm and leg - but mostly on the outside - plus a few near the ankles, and just a couple on the elbows.
Only one blew up like a golf ball, but still 50 is lot so there is a tendency to feel like you are on fire and that you have no friends.
In reality I my skin at times was buring up and I was maybe a touch tetchy with it, but the friends thing was unrelated; I didn’t have any friends before the mozzies bit me.
Still that’s good news in the mosquito wars. Why? Because I had no bites on my ears, my face, my neck, my stomach, back, toes, fingers, or soles of my feet. There were no bites that ballooned up like tennis balls making the nerves in my leg or arm tingle. Good news so.
But this last week, this has been different. In on 2-minute spell yesterday I received four bites inside my house - 2 on the same finger, and another two on the inside of the same wrist. The elbows with increased bites are now less tolerable; the bites are now coming through the clothes - to the stomach, back, neck, and feet - yes I wear socks. Both hands are taking bad hits.
All of this inside my home. And then…
The advance parties have started going up the shorts.
No further discussion. It’s time to bring out the big guns.
