IrishPalooza 2009 The Martin City St Patrick’s Parade
On Sunday, March 15, 2009 there is a full day of parade-style pageantry, music, food, contests and family fun . It’s the 22nd Annual Martin City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, celebrating yet again as “the best little fun parade in Kansas City.”
For the 3rd straight year, the parade will be a part of a full day of activities known as IRISHPALOOZA,
meaning an Irish extravaganza!
Events will start at 11am in the Martin City downtown district, culminating with the 2-hour parade that kicks off at 2pm.
New this year are cash prizes for the top 3 parade entries of which previously there have been more than 100 participants.
Martin City’s theme for 2009 is “Get Your Green On”, so don’t go wearing cyrise. The Grand Marshal of the 2009 parade is Don Harman, well-known meteorologist for WDAF-TV Fox 4.
In the last 2 years more than 20,000 people descended on Martin City.
The Martin City IrishPalooza will host a wide range of entertainment, including musical and performance-related acts, as well as pavilions offering an enjoyable array of food and drink. Fun for the kids remains a major focus, with the pre-parade Prince & Princess Contest, clowns, games, crafts and an inflatable slide and moonwalk.
Charity
A percentage of the proceeds from the 2009 parade will benefit a valued Martin City neighbor: Ozanam, a residential treatment center for children.
