I Have Hankies, But I’m a Publisher
Some of you will remember Irish comedian Barry Murphy’s appearance in Kansas City last year. Barry himself will never forget it.
Back in the day Murphy was in the same college as myself, as was Ardal O’Hanlon - who you may know better as Father Dougal from Father Ted. Ardal was actually quite funny even then; I still have his manifesto from when he ran for Student Union President. Murphy’s rise was more gradual, but he’s been one of Ireland’s consistently top comedians for countless years now.
Long a quality improv man, Murphy’s skills are shown off here in the BBC series Time Trumpet, the spoof documentary that looks ‘back’ on the first thirty years of the 21st Century. This is a 2-minute clip where a Polish soap is voiced into an Irish one set in Athlone, (the Kansas City of Ireland) and I’ve just watched it three four times and cried three four times.

aahhhhhh, I was waiting for that cute little doggie
to come ripping through the office with
the toilet paper wrapped around my head at the end.
Athlone, is Ireland’s KC, lol.
That makes us Tullamore in Denver
depending on going clockwise or not.
Hope you well,
if you ever get kipnapped, then left on the side of the road
near Denver, call me. Or, if you just happen to come this way
in a planned fashion.
Cheers and Happy Saturday,
sorry I didn’t send a card (they have them now),
but all you Hallmark aware people would know that already.

Well I’ve certainly been left in worse places. I think.
