how do u pronounce o’dowd?
Well, some of the time I will. But note that generally you’ll need to spell a bit better if you really want to improve your chances of finding an answer here - you’re just lucky I’m in such a good mood today. Put it down to the weather.
How do you pronounce O’Dowd?
You don’t; you pronounce elephant. Sorry, that’s one of my favourite jokes. Dowd rhymes with How’d as in “How’d ya like it if I licked the back of your knees?” - a common Irish greeting.
And O’ rhymes with Oh, as in “Oh dear, the backs of my knees are all wet”.
And there are loads more infrequently asked Irish questions here on Irish KC.

I heard an Irishman, in O’Dowd’s pub, pronounce it “Oh’dow’eds”. Oh, as in, “Oh, there’s an Irishman with a 4 door.” Dow, as is, “The Dow is as up and down as often as the gal in HGIT’s head is in the back seat of any Irishman’s car.” Ed, as in, “Rhymes with what the gal in HGIT’s is doing in the back of any Irishman’s car.”
