Showing that it’s almost impossible these days to draw up a list without an Irish reference, so far - and there’s a ways to go yet - the top ten highest touring acts of 2006 has an Irish act in it.
Could it be The Fuchsia Band on their Grá Dá Raibh tour? Van Morrison on his Pay The Devil tour? Daniel O’Donnell on his world tour (& Branson, Missouri)? Luka Bloom on his Innocence tour? Christy? Snow Patrol? Hothouse Flowers in Australia & New Zealand? Riverdance? Lord of the Dance? Celtic Tiger? Duffy’s circus?
Well it could be before the year is over, but so far the list is topped - and nobody is close to them - by The Rolling Stones. But at number 2, proudly waving - well it’s usually a white flag that they wave - is U2.
