Free Celtic Music in Loveland
Speaking of The Elders, Kansas City’s Irish-tinged rock group are featured in Loveland, Colorado’s Daily Reporter-Herald today in advance of their FREE concert at the Loveland Civic Center, 500 E. Third Street in the Foote Lagoon Amphitheater at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 6.
If you’re familiar with The Elders, you’ll notice that the listed line-up is out of date, as it leaves out the recent personnel change when keyboard player Joe Miquelon joined. For more up to date information vist The Elders web site which has just been updated by Paul.
If you are in the Loveland area, note also that on Wednesday, July 5, Jerry Barlow, a Celtic guitarist, is performing in the Tunes at Noon series in Peters Park at the the Loveland Museum and Gallery, 503 N. Lincoln:
Barlow, who is not of Irish descent, plays American folk tunes with a Celtic twist. His background is as a country music artist and songwriter in Nashville.
His songs, some recorded by Conway Twitty and Eddy Arnold, led him to the music of the Smokey Mountains and the traditional Celtic melodies behind that music Publicity for the concert states that Barlow’s repertoire of lively jigs, spirited reels, and hauntingly beautiful melodies are reminiscent of Celtic songs traditionally played on instruments like the fiddle or harp
