Enjoying Daniel O’Donnell in Branson, MO
A group of 44, mostly senior citizens from Crookston, Minnesota, travelled down to Branson Missouri where the hightlight of their trip was seeing the Irish charmer himself from Donegal:
Golden Link Director Patty Dillabough said, by far, the highlight of the trip for 24 members of the tour group, including herself, was the Daniel O’Donnell concert. When booking the tour, she inquired about the show but was told the popular Irish singer’s events in Branson were sold out until 2010. Once in Branson, she found out a tour bus scheduled to attend the concert could not make it due to inclement weather, which made 23 seats available.
“When I asked if 23 people wanted to go, 23 hands went up in seconds,” she said.
all of which reminds me of the old joke going around Dublin at the time that Richard Branson’s Virgin Megastore on Aston Quay was a player in the legal fight to make condoms available to the general Irish public. And not very long ago was it.
Did you hear about the fella who went into the Virgin Megastore to buy a Daniel O’Donnell record but got embarassed and bought packet of condoms instead?

Alas I think Branson is not your Market this side of 2010.
Nor Donegal for that matter.
Stop maligning Daniel O’D rightly or wrongly he has and still does given many unhappy widowed, divorced, lost, disabled people many happy hours especially over here in England and Ireland. Friends and self have followed him for over 15 years!
Oh how could anyone disagree with a plea from the Lost & Found box for humanity? And I don’t doubt that you’re right Marion.
But I’m not sure I did malign him in this piece; I simply recounted a joke which really was very popular in Dublin back in the day - and in itself a not insignificant comment on the Ireland of then.
But anyway, what about the happy people? What about the people who aren’t lost? You’re hardly suggesting you need to be widowed, divorced, or disabled to find happiness in Daniel’s music?
