Bloomsday Books Christmas Party
Once upon a time I was in Molloy Brothers Irish Pub talking with Doug Frost about early punk when the subject of smoked salmon came up.
Yes we’re talking food, not punk. Neither was it the fascinating discussion of the advantages of Irish smoked salmon over smoked Irish salmon, in which case if you care that much you should try for Irish smoked Irish salmon.
Doug said Irish whiskey goes very well with smoked salmon. And Doug knows. He’s one of only three people on the planet to hold both Master Sommelier and Master of Wine titles.
And strangely, when Doug is doing a lot of a certain kind of wine testing, the Christmas party at Bloomsday Books is one of Kansas City’s better seasonal events. That may not be the case right right now so I strongly suggest you bring some yummy wine, for however great a party Tom & Nancy Shawver always throw, it’ll be even better with buckets of alcohol in red and green bottles especially for Christmas.
Wednesday December 13th, 2006 after 5pm running until we run out of things that run out, the Bloomsday Books Christmas Party takes place at the historic Crestwood Shops at 313 E 55th (the block between Brookside and Oak).
Tom will also be making a word of mouth announcement there about another special event at Bloomsday Books that won’t be getting publicized online. I already know, but can’t say.
Bloomsday Books takes its name from the novel celebration of a celebrated novel, Ireland’s most, and fittingly has the best collection of used Irish books in the city.
