Here’s a true gem of a gig for live music folk fans in Kansas City.
On Sunday July 22nd, 2007 Big Plain House Concerts are presenting Mason Brown and Doug Goodhart in concert at 7pm.
Doug Goodhart ia a multi-instrumentalist of considerable reknown. Performing and teaching West African polyrhythmic music for 25 years, Doug is a former director of Center For World Music, and as well as the music of West Africa, Doug’s passion has included the traditions of France, Spain, Ireland, the US, Mexico, Cuba and Brazil.
Goodhart’s latest CD was released in 2006. It’s called A Box of Fiddle Tunes, and it focuses on Appalachian fiddling.
Mason Brown can be seen perform most Saturday afternoons up in O’Malley’s Irish Pub in Weston, Missouri. Mason has a very soulful voice and often the very impressive viola da gamba on his lap, though you’ll hear him play the guitar and banjo also.
Brown’s new solo album will be titled When Humans Walked the Earth and you should keep an eye on www.masonbrown.info for news of its release.
