District and Circle by Seamus Heaney
A couple of days back I read a great review by Arlice Davenport in the Wichita Eagle of Irish nobel prizewinner Seamus Heaney’s District and Circle: Poems:
If Heaney’s elegies of the past reveal the wonder of what has been, the richness of his diction shows the wonder of what should be: words as living things. In particular, his odes to other poets — George Seferis, Pablo Neruda, William Wordsworth, among them — inspire and enchant; they praise the poet-maker as visionary, numinous and wise.
District and Circle: Poems by Seamus Heaney is published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux
