How Far Has Your Irish Grandfather Danced in KC?
Over in Springfield, Missouri they’re planning a Dancing With Our Stars night in August, a fundraiser for Catholic schools there.
Competing in the event where local non-dancers are paired with professional dancers is Father Mike McDevitt. And why are we interested in that?
Because McDevitt comes from a dancing family:
“My dad was a good dancer,” he said. “My grandfather could not read or write, but he played the fiddle and he danced.”
McDevitt, whose grandfather left Ireland for the United States in the late 1880s, once did the Irish jig the entire length of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Kansas City.
And, luckily for you, I’ve decided to add no further comment.
